Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the purposes for which it is used, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Leon County Criminal History, you accept the practices stated here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the third-party company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or record those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email sent to us may be retained so we can respond. We keep the message within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the servers may receive routine technical information about that visit:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • Your device's assigned IP address
  • Browser name and version
  • Operating system and device type
  • Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
  • The referring website, when available

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files stored on a device. We and our analytics services use them to understand traffic patterns, including popular pages and points where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although disabling them may change how parts of the site work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Diagnosing and correcting technical problems
  • Operating the site and improving load performance
  • Routing a submitted query to the selected search partner
  • Measuring which material visitors use
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site identifies where Leon County records may be requested from the Sheriff's Office, criminal court clerks, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is handled under that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner determines its retention and sharing practices, which we do not control. Read those terms before running a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Leon County government, court portals, Texas agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's own privacy terms control. Review them before providing personal information.

Some advertising services may measure activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs on the advertising provider's systems.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

  • Advertising networks that place ads on pages
  • Search providers processing a submitted query
  • Analytics services measuring traffic and performance
  • Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect the information we collect. No internet service can guarantee complete security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it.

Your Data Rights

Rights can vary with the law that applies to a visitor. Texas Government Code Chapter 552, the Texas Public Information Act, governs records held by government bodies, while Government Code Sections 411.083 through 411.085 limit dissemination of criminal-history record information. Those laws do not make this private site a government custodian. Under our practices, you may:

  • Request deletion of personal data we hold
  • Ask what personal information we maintain about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Opt out of eligible forms of data processing

Updates to This Policy

This privacy policy may be revised. A changed version will appear here with a new effective date, and continued use will be governed by the posted policy.

Effective date: August 9, 2026
